Grand Challenges Canada: Point-of-Care Diagnostics Grant Opportunity

Grand Challenges Canada recently worked with the Grand Challenges in Global Health initiative on a new point-of-care diagnostics grant opportunity directed primarily at researchers in low- and middle-income countries.

$12 million Canadian in funding was available for this new initiative.

This grant opportunity closed on July 12, 2010.

This request for proposal complemented the recent diagnostics grant opportunity presented by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This new Grand Challenges Canada RFP contained an additional component, namely the opportunity to submit proposals under the new topic area of implementation research for point-of-care diagnostics, as well as a proposal development grant, workshop, and other measures aimed at attracting and assisting applicants from low- and middle-income countries.

Grand Challenges Canada and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will foster alignment and collaboration across the two RFPs to create a single community of global investigators on point-of-care diagnostics.
