Postdoctoral Fellowship Program Opportunity

The Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR), University of Ghana, Legon, Ghana has instituted a Postdoctoral Fellowship Program to train future research leaders who will contribute to infectious disease control efforts. The program seeks to train young African scientists toward building a critical mass for control of poverty-related diseases, equip them to compete effectively for international funding for research work in Africa, offer them international exposure, and facilitate their networking and collaboration with other institutions. TB Vaccine Accelerator

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is now accepting letters of inquiry for a new grant program: TB Vaccine Accelerator, part of the Grand Challenges in Global Health initiative. This program seeks to develop models of natural Mycobacterium tuberculosis transmission, define key transmission properties, and develop novel approaches to vaccination that will protect against infection. Reducing the Burden of Preterm Birth

The Grand Challenges Brazil partnership is seeking proposals from Brazilian researchers for innovative research in biology, medical technology, delivery mechanisms, and behavior change that leads to high-impact prevention and treatment solutions for reducing the burden of preterm birth. Saving Lives at Birth 

Saving Lives at Birth: A Grand Challenge for Development has launched its third call for innovative prevention and treatment approaches for pregnant women and newborns in rural, low-resource settings around the world. The deadline is March 28, 2013. Stars in Global Health

Grand Challenges Canada is seeking proposals for Stars in Global Health, a program that enables innovators in low- and lower-middle-income countries and Canada to develop their bold idea with big impact to improve global health conditions. Partnerships for Development of Vaccine Technologies

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), invites research applications for projects focused on preclinical development of candidate technologies (including adjuvants) that would improve vaccine effectiveness and/or simplify vaccine delivery to patient populations during a natural outbreak of an infectious disease or following the intentional release of an infectious agent. Applications must include a Product Development Strategy attachment and demonstrate substantive investment by at least one industrial participant. Letter of Intent due May 26, 2012. Biomarkers to Measure HIV Incidence at the Population Level

The HIV Diagnostics team at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is now accepting Letters of Inquiry for a grant program seeking biomarkers that can be used effectively to measure HIV incidence at the population level. Proposals are being accepted online until Friday, May 18, 2012 10:00 AM Pacific Standard Time. Individual grants will not exceed US $1 million.
